GILDED CRYSTAL, ENAMEL AND STERLING - ENGLISH SCENT / PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1830
This perfume/scent bottle was made by Matthew Linwood of Birmingham, England. The bottle is crystal with an etched and gilded feathery design around the top edge. The mounting is sterling silver with a hinged cap. The back of the mounting collar is impressed with the maker's marks. The top of the cap is embossed and enameled with a red flower and 2 green leaves. The interior of the cap is gold-washed and has a number "8" impressed in the center. The mounting rim has a number "8" impressed on the surface. There is an inner glass stopper which is original to the bottle and very often missing on bottles this old. No markings on the bottom of the bottle. This is a very pretty bottle and worthy of a first-class collection.
Size: 3" h. x 15/16" w. Condition: Bottle excellent - no chips or cracks; no dents on cap; inner stopper - multiple chips. Sliver chips on 2 flower petals and 1 on lower edge of right leaf - these are difficult to see, not glaring or distracting and do not detract from the beauty of the bottle. ATOMIZER, ART NOUVEAU, SCHAFER & VATER (S & V), GERMAN PORCELAIN, SCENT / PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1920s
From Joan's collection. This striking, Art Nouveau head, porcelain perfume atomizer bottle was made in Germany by Schafer & Vater. It is pink-tinted bisque with green accent painting. Facial details are beautifully molded - eyelids, defined lips and teeth, finely formed nose with nostrils. A model number (4389) is faintly impressed on the bottom as is the S & V logo. To open, turn small knob on top -- plunger comes up. To close, push down on plunger and turn knob.

RARE -- JEWELED CZECH ATOMIZER PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1920s-30s
This, vibrant, Chinese red glass bottle was made in Czechoslovakia. The emerald and amethyst stones are faceted and bezel set. Original ball and cord. There is a glass syphon rod. The bottom of the bottle is slightly concave. It is clearly acid-etched in a circle "Made in Czecho - Slovakia." The mark is difficult to see in the photos because approximately half of the etching extends into the concave center. There are no maker's marks on the mounting.

Jeweled Czech perfume bottles are not rare -- but jeweled Czech atomizers are! We have 4 collector reference books devoted solely to Czech glass/Czech perfume bottles -- and -- the auction catalog from the Ruth Forsythe collection. There is nothing like it in any of these sources, nor is there anything similar to it!

Size: 8" high (including fitting) x 2 5/8" wide (at the base). Condition: Excellent -- no chips or cracks to the glass; no missing jewels (all are original); glass siphon rod is original and intact; ball and cord are original. Age wear to mounting. Collar has 2 cracks, both are difficult to see, and do not affect the way the top screws into the collar. COLORFUL CZECH PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1920s-1930s
Unusual and very colorful Czech perfume bottle with threaded metal cap. It has a mottled-colored base and solid-colored orange body with black accenting lines radiating from the neck to the base. The cap is silver-colored metal with a beaded top edge and screws onto a threaded metal collar. There are no markings on the bottom.
Size: 3 1/4" high x 3 3/8" wide (widest point at base). Condition: Bottle - excellent, no chips or cracks; top of cap is pitted and shows age wear, small bubbles on top, rough bottom edge. Click on gallery image to see additional photos.

PYRAMID, ATOMIZER AND DROP PERFUME BOTTLE (PAIR), c.1920s-1930s
Striking atomizer and drop perfume bottle pair, made by the Pyramid company. The bottles are black glass with matte-gilded feet and are encircled with large matte-gilded flowers. Beautifully molded decoration on both collars. The stopper on the drop perfume is metal with a black glass insert on the top. The atomizer has a clear glass siphon rod and the drop perfume has a clear glass dauber. A Pyramid label is on the top of the foot on the drop perfume. The atomizer is stamped with the Pyramid name on the collar of the fitting. No markings on the bottoms of either bottle.
Sizes: Atomizer: 7 3/8" high (to top of fitting).
Drop Perfume: 7" high.
Body on both bottles: 1 1/8" wide (approximately, at widest point).
Foot on both bottles: 2 1/4" wide.

FLORENZA, JEWELED PITCHER, PERFUME POMANDER, c.1960s
Beautiful perfume pomander in the shape of a pitcher. Stamped on the bottom of the piece is the maker's name, Florenza. This company, best known for its intricate and unique costume jewelry, was established in 1945 by Daniel Kasoff, Inc. in New York City. The brand "Florenza," named after his wife, Florence, was first used in 1949 or 1950. Pomanders were first recorded in Europe in the Middle Ages and were used as herbal amulets that were worn around the neck or placed in the home, with the intention of protecting the wearer from negative spirits, illnesses, or harmful energies like jealousy and envy. It was also used to mask unpleasant odors, personal or environmental. This pitcher is adorned with 3 oval cabochon turquoise stones on the lower part and 4 amethyst rhinestones on the hinged lid. Pomanders held neither liquid perfume nor waxy solid perfume. Instead, a piece of material or cotton ball was saturated with a fragrance and placed inside the pomander. The pierced lid allowed the fragrance inside to be dispersed. A synthetic pearl completes the jewels on this charming piece. The pendent is made of heavy cast metal covered in rich gold plating.

Avon gold mandolin solid compact designed to hold Avon's Perfume Glace, assorted fragrances. The charming little mandolin was introduced in 1971. Presentation has outer sleeve and inner box. The box has blue flocking on the inside box bottom with a molded platform that holds the mandolin. Perfume remains in container.

RARE, SCHIAPARELLI, "S", JEWELRY PIN, SOLID PERFUME COMPACT, c.1961
Rare Schiaparelli heart-shaped, solid perfume jewelry compact for her fragrance, "S", c. 1961. It is now 65 plus years old!! The antiqued gold-tone case with lattice design on the lid is set with pale pink rhinestones. It is nearly full with Elsa Schiaparelli's famous, "S" perfume-scented, solid perfume. The solid is suspended from a pretty gold bow brooch, with an "O" ring, and can be detached if desired. Perfect gold foil label on bottom, "Parfums Schiaparelli Inc., "S" Creme Parfum, .12 oz., Net Wt." This is a rare perfume item, not often offered for sale, a real find for the serious perfume collector. CORDAY, LE COQ D'OR, VINTAGE SOLID PERFUME COMPACT, c.1960s
Large, figural solid perfume compact by Corday for, "Toujours Moi," creme perfume. The highly-detailed design is known as, "Le Coq d'Or" - The Golden Cockeral (perhaps after the Russian Rimskey-Korsakov opera of the same name.) This golden crested bird with blue rhinestone eyes is mounted on a pedestal. The hinged back wing covers the perfume compartment. The fragrance was an early Corday scent launched in 1924. "Toujours Moi" translates to "Always Me" or "Still Me." Gold foil bottom label. It has been used, but most of the perfume remains.

This unique, gold-tone metal, figural, solid perfume compact was made by the Fuller Brush Company. A bright red ceramic apple in the center is surrounded by the crafty snake, with green glass stone eyes, who seduced Eve into eating the Forbidden Fruit in the Garden of Eden! With the addition of a chain or cord, this solid can be worn as a perfume jewelry necklace. The gold foil label on the bottom reads: Perfume Compact and Pendant." Nearly all the perfume remains.

Very collectible, very desirable, this bright red, luscious delight was created by Florenza for an unknown solid perfume fragrance. Gold-tone metal, figural, solid perfume compact is in the shape of a fresh, ripe strawberry with an enameled bright green stem on the top. The interior of the compact is embossed, "Phalen Dallas" and "Florenza." Condition of the enamel on the compact is in excellent condition.

Vintage and very detailed from the basket weave cart to the flower blossoms that fill the top, this little flower cart "rolls" in from the 1960s....over 65 years old. The realistic, detailed flower cart with orange and yellow glass stones on top and wheels that turn was designed to hold Max Factor's Hypnotique frangrance. The little flower cart retains most of its original solid solid perfume.

This is Max Factor's version of a woven basket filled with flowers and leaves suspended above the compact on "wire stems". Now that's very creative! This container once held Factor's popular fragrance, Hypnotique. The golden pot has a woven design, and the basket lid has a cluster of flowers attached at the center in a circle of green crystal-like chips. This is a special vintage perfume solid compact that will make your collection bloom!

This is another of the creative 1970s perfume solid compacts from Max Factor. This charming child's rocking horse is filled with Factor's popular Hypnotique solid perfume. Lots of detail. The pommel on the saddle provides access to the hidden spring loaded perfume compartment in the horse's body.

ESTEE LAUDER, COURT JESTER, SOLID PERFUME COMPACT, c.1998
Introduced in 1998, this is Estee Lauder's standing court jester in silver-tone metal. He wears the motley, a traditional checkered costume of the court jester, fool, or harlequin character in Commedia dell'Arte. The diamond pattern on his suit is accented with black enamel and clear crystals. His bicorn hat is enhanced with clear and red crystals; he wears red enamel slippers. A domino mask covers his eyes and he holds a silver baton. Silver foil label on the bottom. The compact is mint in box with a black faille pouch and inner and outer boxes. This has always been one of my favorite Estee Lauder creations.

ESTEE LAUDER, ESTEE, IVORY SERIES "NESTING DUCK", SOLID PERFUME COMPACT, c.1981
This wonderful "Nesting Duck" from the Estee Lauder ivory series was introduced in 1981. It is an oval goldtone compact for the Estee Lauder fragrance, Estee. The case rim is decorated with a blue enamel design. The beige and faux ivory duck with cinnabar accented feathers is nesting on top of the lid. The ivory series Estee Lauder solids are highly sought after by perfume solid collectors. This is one of six creatures in the ivory series.

This is a truly unique solid perfume item. I've seen it described as a pendant, a charm, and even a zipper pull! What it is for sure is RARE, hard-to-find, and very desirable. Made by Corday to hold their Toujour Moi (Always Mine) scent in a great compact disigned as a sitting unicorn. This example is attached as a pendant to a 12" long chain, to be worn as a perfume jewelry necklace. The tiny perfume compartment appears to be nearly totally full. Excellent addition to your quality perfume solid collection.
