MOKINS'S FRENCH PERFUMETTES, VICTOIRE LILAC, LAY-DOWN MINI ATOMIZER, PERFUME BOTTLE, c.Late teens
From Joan's collection. This lovely old lay-down (stand not included) mini atomizer was made by Mokins's French Perfumettes for the fragrance "Victoire Lilac." The bottle is made of fine latticino-style blown glass. There are 2 very fine glass siphon rods (barely thicker than a needle!) -- one inside the bulb mesh, and one starting at the top opening going down into the center of the bottle to the very bottom. There are 3 embossed paper labels: (1) gold neck label has the maker's initials; (2) gold label on one side of the bottle reads "Mokins's, Paris" -- under the word "Paris" are the letters "B S.G.D.G." *; (3) gold and green printed label reads, "French Perfumettes, Victoire Lilac." When I view this bottle, I can't help but see a bird in flight -- beautiful!

* "B" -- is an abbreviation for the French word "breveté" ("patented").
S.G.D.G. -- abbreviation for "Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement" ("Without Government Guarantee").

Size: 2 3/4" h. (bottle only) x 7/8" w. (approx, at widest point). Condition: Excellent -- no chips or cracks, both glass siphon rods intact. Atomizer bulb missing, very common on old atomizer bottles, does not affect value. This bottle is very difficult to find in this condition. See additional photos.

LENTHERIC, MIRACLE, DECO PERFUME BOTTLE, 4 oz., c.1940s
From Joan's collection. Lentheric made this lovely deco bottle for the fragrance "Miracle." The bottle is empty. The fragrance was launched in 1936, but this bottle design dates from the early 1940s. The bottle is frosted with polished accents. It replicates the capital of an Ionic column with polished scrolls. The top of the stopper is frosted with polished ends and bands on the front and back. If you like labels – this bottle has them – four – to be exact! There are 2 gold foil labels, one on each side of the bottle – one has the maker name – the other, the name of the fragrance. There is a very heavy (thick) gold metal(?) hang tag attached to a gold cord around the neck. The tag is printed the same on both sides and states: "An original and authentic perfume presentation by Lentheric. New York, Paris, London. Compounded in U.S.A., Contents 4 fl. oz." The fourth label is on the bottom of the bottle and states: "Completed in Lentherics Laboratories. U.S.A., 4 oz." A wonderful classic collector bottle.

HERMAN TAPPAN, SIGNAL FLASH, PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1890

* Since the J, U and L of the date are scraped off, I searched the archives of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to confirm the patent date. LELONG, "INDISCRETE", PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1935
In my opinion, Lucien Lelong made some of the most feminine and lovely perfume bottles. In ths lising is the bottle for Lucien Lelong's vintage fragrance, Indiscrete. The bottle is molded in a draped fabric design. Tall and graceful, it is classic and very feminine in style. The high quality frosted glass has a satiny feel to the touch. While the fragrance was launched in 1935, this bottle is from a later time, possibly the 1940s or 50s. A round gold foil label covers the bottom of the bottle.
Size: 2 7/8" h. Condition: The glass bottle is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks. LUBIN, OCEAN BLEU, PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1925
Parfums Lubin is one of the oldest perfume houses in the world. Pierre François Lubin founded the company in 1798, and its early history is linked to the high society of the Napoleonic era. His fragrances were worn by Joséphine and Pauline Bonaparte, and eventually, by all the crowned heads of Europe. They were first imported to America in 1830. This is a vintage (not quite 1798 vintage!) perfume bottle by Lubin for "Ocean Bleu" fragrance from 1925. The clear glass bottle has an embossed pattern of scrolls, or perhaps, waves, on the front and back. A blue and silver foil label is on the front of the flask-shape flacon. The small square base is embossed, "Lubin, Paris." Brass stopper. Interesting bottle from an ancient and historically interesting maker, Lubin.
Size: 2 1/2" h. Condition: Bottle and stopper in excellent condition.

LUCIEN LELONG, ORGUEIL, METAL CLAD PERFUME BOTTLE, c.1946
This limited edition bottle was made by Lucien Lelong for "Orgueil." The bottle and stopper are completely covered in gold-colored metal! The bottle is empty. Number 244 is faintly etched and very faintly painted on the base of the stopper neck. The same number is on the INSIDE bottom of the bottle. The bottle opening is 3/4" wide, and the number can be seen by reflecting the inside of the bottle in sunlight or under good incandescent light. The large number is hand-written on paper which must have been glued to the glass before the metal was applied. There is also a round paper label on the bottom of the outside of the bottle: "PARFUMS LUCIEN LELONG, MADE IN FRANCE, NET. CONT. 4 FL. OZ., PARIS."
Size: 4 5/8" h. x 2 3/4" w. (at widest point). Condition: The bottle is in good condition -- minor, normal age scratches. The bottle rim has a very tiny nick and 2 tiny discolored areas. Stopper edge has nicks and dings. The underside of stopper has tiny flakes in the glass along the metal edge which were probably done in the manufacturing process when the metal was applied over the glass. The glass is completely level with the metal, so it would be difficult to chip the glass in that area. No chips to the stopper neck. NOTE: enlarged pictures are taken with a macro lens and greatly enhance any imperfections.
